Kindness costs nothing

Yesterday, I was walking back to work from lunch (I work next to a hospital) and I saw a taxi pull up for a girl in her mid twenties, with a newly plastered leg.

The driver motioned for her to get in (jabbing his thumb in a backwards motion through the open window) and the girl, laden with crutches and a holdall, hopped towards the back door and started to struggle to open it.

I, and a guy sitting at a cafe behind me, both came to help her into the cab, and I shut the door for her, before they drove away.

All I can say to that driver is that I hope that if you have a daughter, she is never treated in such a despicable way by someone who is supposed to be providing a service.

You lazy, selfish man.
